Welcome
To the Hertfordshire Heritage Fund

The Hertfordshire Heritage Fund (HHF) was established in 1988 as a charitable trust with a clear purpose, to help preserve Hertfordshire’s history for future generations.
At the time, there was growing concern that historic treasures were leaving the county. The Fund was created to assist museums in purchasing items connected to Hertfordshire’s past and making them accessible to the public.
Why We Exist
Hertfordshire’s museums hold remarkable collections, but most have little or no funding for new acquisitions. That’s where the HHF steps in. Our Trustees can offer grant aid to help secure important objects for local collections.
What We Do
Over the years, the HHF has supported the county's accredited museums, specialist libraries and the Hertfordshire Archive Office with grants for hundreds of items, including:
- Paintings
- Ceramics
- Coins and medals
- Archive material
- Archaeological finds
Every item funded must relate to Hertfordshire’s heritage and align with the applying museum’s collecting policy.
